Lisa Bate's glass batteries

Lisa Bate Studio

Lisa creates contemporary art sculptures which are predominantly made using kiln cast glass and mixed media.

Specialising in kiln cast glass, Lisa’s practice focuses on the lost wax casting technique. This process involves making master moulds, often made from a found object, then uses the wax forms to construct her works which become glass after the kiln firing.

Sculptures are often made in a series, cast glass art works explore repetition of form using deconstruction and reconstruction methods. Interested in kinetics, producing sculptural works that can move or are interchangeable. All sculptures are original and one-off with a limited edition of smaller glass objects.

Her sculptural glass art works have received multiple awards of critical recognition.

Evelyn Dunstan

Coming from an arts background, Evelyn found her niche with lost-wax kiln casting in 2003, and has since explored the qualities of crystal glass, modifying materials, techniques and methods that allows her to cast fine detail and control colour placement, taking advantage of the creative freedom for conceptual vision and innovation that the lost wax process encourages. She has exhibited and taught widely overseas. A passion for her surrounding environment with a strong focus on ecological concerns influence a methodology throughout her work and making process, while challenging what is physically possible creating in glass.

Colour energizes me – it feeds my soul.

I’m in my happy place when I’m creating or am surrounded by colour. I’m an intuitive and mixed media and textile artist with an interest in Art Jewellery- Particularly silversmithing.

Painting and being Creative make me happy- I create to express my emotions and unlock untold stories that evoke memories. I paint to make others happy and to make them smile – to escape to another world if only for a little while. I create from my heart.
To be able to work at what is your passion is a real privilege.

I feel very humbled to know that my Jewellery, Textiles and Art have found homes worldwide.
